Monday 17th of June
Welcome to the kickoff! After registration (and ice cream!) we dove into the science with sessions on AQP4, fluid dynamics, and sleep and Alzheimer’s. After an energizing coffee break and more sessions, we wrap up with dinner, catching up with colleagues old and new, and exciting keynotes by Jeffrey Iliff and Per Kristian Eide.
Tuesday 18th of June
Tuesday was all about innovation! Starting with cutting-edge MRI methods to study the glymphatic system, we then shifted to head trauma and encelography. The poster session added some interactive flair, and we finished with back-to-back sessions on CNS barriers and CSF.
Wednesday 19th of June
Mid-week brought insights into hydrocephalus, brain fluid clearance, and neurodegeneration, with a global lineup from Umeå to MIT. After lunch and another lively poster session, we explored connections between the glymphatic system and cardiovascular health.
Thursday 20th of June
Our final day started strong with a keynote from Maiken Nedergaard on the glymphatic system, followed by a look into fresh approaches for glymphatic assessment. We ended with a forward-looking discussion on future symposia and a farewell lunch, sending everyone off with new ideas and connections!
Poster sessions
The symposium’s poster sessions were a hub of excitement, featuring 130 cutting-edge abstracts that showcased groundbreaking research in glymphatic science, fluid dynamics, and CNS health. Researchers from around the world engaged in lively discussions, exchanged ideas, and fostered new collaborations.
The Best Poster Award went to Camilla Hushovd-Richard for her outstanding contributions in sleep-cycle dependent vasomotion. Felix Beinlich took second place with insights on oxygen imaging of hypoxic pockets, while Tina Esmail earned third for her exiting work on early life pain. These sessions celebrated scientific excellence and innovation, leaving participants inspired and connected.
